Seven Messages

Since childhood, my hobby has been reading and studying, and on interesting topics, researching. I love reading, and I can read and read for hours and hours altogether. That's my passion.

Since I got saved, my love for reading the Bible and Christian literature has grown to a new level. As far as I remember, I have been reading the Bible and selected Christian literature everyday, except those few days I was down with fever that occurred rarely. I reckoned this as a gift from God, a blessing in disguise; the love of reading the Bible and spiritual writings.

On the average, I have been spending about two hours daily just for reading. On some days, I spent more hours. This includes Bible reading and Christian ministry literature; about ten to fifteen chapters of the Bible and one or two ministry messages. But today was an exception, I ended up reading seven ministry messages in addition to my daily Bible reading portion. I guess, because of the need mingled with inner thirst for the word.

In the morning, during our corporate truth pursuing time, we read two chapters from The Normal Christian Life. Then, we had a weekly prayer, truth-pursuing, and fellowship among the serving ones in the distribution service when we pursued two chapters on the person of Christ from The Conclusion of the New Testament. Later, after some official works, I went to an eye hospital for my dad's periodical check-up. While the clinical processes were carried out, I enjoyed reading a message from The Normal Christian Life again. In the afternoon, after lunch and Bible reading, another chapter from the same book was read again. And in the evening after dinner as I waited for our family prayer and fellowship time, I prepared myself for tomorrow's group meeting, so I read another message on how a believer should manage finance based on the teaching of Bible from Messages for Building Up New Believers.

Altogether, seven messages were read in a form of truth pursuing today. For some, it may sound like an overload. Not for me. It depends on the spiritual condition and capacity of a person. But for me, reading Bible, truth pursuing, prayer, fellowship, meetings etc., have been a normal schedule in my life. I did not feel any pressure in doing so. Instead, I enjoyed such a schedule; the tighter, the better, I felt for me. In fact, I long for even more enlarged capacity to receive much more.

My attitude is, as long as my body allows, especially my eyes to read and my mind to understand, I would keep reading and reading. Only God knows how many more years He has reserved for me on this earth. As much as He does, I would love to make the best and maximum use of it. So when one day, my health may not be as conducive for reading, I should just retire, rest, and recollect all that I have read till then. Giving no room for regrets. No questioning myself, I could have done better. Now, when I can, I must do my best.

Thank the Lord for His words and His ministry! I am a beneficiary of His rich speaking! Seven messages a day once in a while is a fair deal and a special grace.
