He Brews Hebrew

Learning Hebrew "brewed me" a lot, especially when I had to find time in the midst of my busy schedule. The toughest test came last time when I had to give my Midterm 2 exam. It was such a labor; I almost regretted enrolling in the course. Nonetheless, the Lord graced me to study and study and finally took the exam after much revision over and over again. My experience of this toughest exam of my life was recorded as Hebrew: He Brews

This time too, with the remaining final term, I did my best to learn and learn. I discovered the secret of learning, especially memorising tough Hebrew vocabulary. I also discovered that I have a very good memory, though a little volatile with age. I made use of this God-gifted memory and learned as many and as fast as I could and kept studying one lesson after the other with breaks. When my memory was set in motion, it was very easy to grasp things and learn. Therefore, in the final semester, I learned the lesson of learning. In a span of about a week, I gave my whole concentration to learning just Hebrew and completed the remaining lessons, only handling important matters and postponing the rest, yet not missing any of my spiritual responsibilities.

Then finally, yesterday, I set it as a D day for my final exam. I did my best to revise thoroughly all that I studied: the lessons, my notes, the video lectures, the vocabulary, the quizzes, etc. After all my daily chores, including my personal prayer and the church's Life-Study reading, I prayed with my children and went to my office for the final exam. Again, to make sure that I did my best and not regret it later, I did another round of reviewing through the entire lessons, which took about two hours, and then took my final exam, which lasted for another two hours. Basically, when I took the exam, it was about 00:30 AM today morning and completed at 2:30 AM.

This time, I brewed Hebrew in contrast to last time when Hebrew brewed me. So, this time, He Brews Hebrew

Praise the Lord! The Lord graced me through and completed by final exam and scored exactly as I suspected to get, not expected to get. For I know it is not that easy. I just scored 90% on the exam, and when averaged with the previous exams, it stands at 89.92%. Good enough!

Basics of Biblical Hebrew 1: 90.33
Basics of Biblical Hebrew 2: 89.52
179.85 (89.92%)

To encourage my fellow learners, I posted the following message.
הללו יה הללו את שם יהוה הללו עבדי יהוה׃
תהלים 135:1

Hallelujah! Praise the name of Jehovah; Praise Him, you servants of Jehovah.
Psalms 135:1 RecVer

Today, the 30th of October 2026, the Lord graced me to complete my Hebrew learning!

It took me about two years to complete learning 36 chapters of Basics of Biblical Hebrew Grammar. I took a 10-month break in between because my official responsibilities required extensive travel for the ministry literature journey.

I have learned many spiritual lessons and human lessons too, merely by studying Hebrew. Discipline, scheduling, studying, memorising, revising, writing exams, and so much labor- a back-to-school experience! It's all worth it!

Sail on, and let's all complete it!

Much grace to us all!

והיתה עמו וקרא בו כל ימי חייו למען ילמד ליראה את יהוה אלהיו לשמר את כל דברי התורה הזאת ואת החקים האלה לעשתם׃
דברים 17:19
